ART
Hello, lets talk artwork!
So, how did you end up doing... all of this?
Well, I'm a multidisciplinary artist, workshop facilitator, and educator with over 30 years' experience delivering visual art projects with a background in theatre, radio, television writing, directing and performing.
Who do you create projects with?
Everyone, really. I work inclusively with people of all ages and abilities, creating supportive, engaging environments where everyone feels able to take part. Much of my practice centres on empowering individuals particularly those who feel they are "not creative".I love to encourage people to explore their own interpretations and build confidence through making something together.
Where does your inspiration actually come from?
Nature, and the world around me. My work explores sensory experience, observation and perception as a shared human language. I'm particularly interested in multisensory approaches, and I have a strong foundation in graphic design, along with a deep knowledge of birds, flora, and fauna.
What does a typical project look like for you?
Honestly, no two are the same! Collaboration is at the heart of my practice I enjoy developing projects organically, working closely with participants and communities to shape outcomes together.
I do have personal projects of my own that I am constantly building on including a children's book, a documentary about the social and emotional value of letter writing, a multisensory installationinspired by my parents dementia and most recently writing and recording my own songs.
What's the thread that runs through everything you do?
I'm known for my open, playful, and adaptable approach and for creating inclusive experiences that are joyful, and engaging to the people involved. I'm there to guide and and promote individuals interpretaions. The process is the exciting part - you can only plan so much. I like to think if we can imagine it lets find a way to do it.
