I’ve basically spent my whole life being a bit of a creative magpie - picking up everything from theatre and film to writing and music along the way. I grew up obsessed with old-school jazz and musicals, was always in school plays and choirs, and went on to perform in everything from Cabaret to soul bands in Birmingham (usually as a character, not quite brave enough to be myself yet!).

Even though I was constantly singing, I always had this quiet urge to sing the music I really loved - jazz standards - and to share my own songs… I just didn’t quite have the confidence. It wasn’t until I moved to Ireland, found a more relaxed and supportive music scene, and started collaborating with brilliant local musicians that things really clicked.

I’d been secretly writing songs for years, but now I was not only encouraged to record  but to make a music video too so finally I brought one out into the world. The reaction was amazing - people thought it was an old classic and I stopped thinking “why would I do that” and started to think “why not”? after all I am a woman of a certain age!

So now here I am, finally stepping into my own voice and launching my first single
